Kylian Mbappe ‘to join Real Madrid on a free transfer from PSG this summer

Kylian Mbappe has reportedly agreed to join Real Madrid when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires this summer.

According to French transfer market expert Santi Aouna via Footmercato, Mbappe reached an agreement with Real Madrid a few days ago and committed his future to the La Liga giants after refusing to extend his stay at Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe was free to negotiate with other clubs from January 1 as he had officially entered into the last six months of his PSG contract. Therefore, Real Madrid began negotiating with the 25-year-old soon after.

On January 4, Mbappe said that he still hadn’t made a decision on his future but was “very, very motivated for this year”.

“It’s very important. As I said, we’ve got titles to go after and we’ve already taken one. After that, I haven’t made up my mind yet. I haven’t made a choice,” Mbappe added.

“With the agreement I made with the President last summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and preserve the club’s serenity for the challenges ahead, which remains the most important thing. So let’s say it’s secondary.”

In the last two summers, both Mbappe and Real Madrid were involved in transfer sagas, but Footmercato and Aouana, who is a highly-respected source of transfer news in his homeland, have reported that Mbappe will become a Real Madrid player in July after reaching an agreement with the La Liga giants “a few days ago”.
