Ekiti woman arraigned for biting lady’s eye

A 40-year-old woman, Funmilayo Aduloju, was on Thursday, July 20, arraigned before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting a fellow lady and injuring her in the process.

 

Aduloju who was arraigned on a count charge of assault, committed the offence on July 12 at about 8:30 pm at the Ekute area of Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

 

Police prosecutor, Inspector Johnson Okunade said; 

 

“The defendant committed the offense on July 12 at about 8:30 pm in the Ekute area of Ado Ekiti, the state capital. The defendant assaulted one Adetutu Abegunde, by biting her with teeth on her left eye while fighting, which inflicted serious injury on her.

“The offense contravened Section 185 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.” 

 

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her, and her counsel, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, promising that she will fulfill all the conditions. 

 

Chief Magistrate, Mr. A.O Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. The case was adjourned till August 3 for a hearing.
