Tears flow as Nollywood stars, and Murphy Afolabi’s students hold night of respect in Lagos

Nollywood stars and late Murphy Afolabi students have held a night of respect in his honour in Lagos state.

Videos surfacing online captured tearful moments of celebrities wailing and mourning the death of their beloved colleague, who died last week.

The videos captured Kelvin Ikeduba, Olaiya Igwe, Yemi Solade, Richardo Agbor, Toyosi Adesanya, Adekola Tijani, and a host of others, including Murphy Afolabi’s students at the Blue Roof Agindigbi Lagos state.

Actor Adekola Tijani, Yemi Solade and Richardo Agbo enlightened the audience about the life of the deceased.

Black Sunday as Nollywood loses Murphy Afolabi

Recall that Murphy Afolabi died on Sunday, the 14th of May, 2023, after he reportedly slipped on bathroom tiles and hit his head on a hard surface.

Nollywood stars declared Sunday as a Black day because the movie industry lost two actors. Many took to their timelines to share dark images to mourn the death of Murphy Afolabi.

Actor Murphy Afolabi’s death came as a shock to many as the actor recently marked his 49th birthday on the 5th of May. Reports by Seun Oloketuyi claimed the actor lost his life after slipping on bathroom tiles.

Nollywood artistes, including Adeniyi Johnson, Papa Show, Biola Bayo, Damola Olatunjji, Sam Olatunji, Yinka Solomon, Mercy Aigbe, Kemi Korede and a host of others mourned their colleagues’ death on social media.

The actor was buried amidst tears by his children, colleagues, families and friends at his residence in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
