Actors’ Guild indefinitely suspends Jerry Williams over drug abuse

Recall that The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had announced the indefinite suspension of Jerry Williams over his involvement with drugs.

Emeka Rollas, the president of Actors’ Guild announced his suspension via a statement.

According to the statement, the association had been monitoring the situation since December till it got out of hand.

According to the president, Jerry Williams ought to have been suspended before now, but the Guild decided to allow him to go through minor treatments, which they claimed he has been defaulting of.

The President stated that the actor was now a risk not only to himself but also to other actors, who might be acting alongside him on set.

Following this, the board decided to indefinitely suspend pending when he gets a clean bill of health from a medical practitioner.

The statement read in part; “the Guild has been monitoring his involvement in illicit substances since December last year until it got out of hand, and as it is now, he cannot be allowed to associate with other performers on set due to danger.

He ought to have been suspended before now. But we decided to allow him to go through minor treatments, which he has been defaulting overtimes. But as it stands now, Jerry is a risk not only to himself but also, to other actors who might be acting alongside him on set.

We, therefore have decided to suspend him indefinitely until he gets a clean bill of health from a medical practitioner or a professional that handles drug abuse”.

Jerry Williams isn’t the only actor facing suspension.
