My parents wanted me to be a lawyer or doctor, I had to prove myself to them – Singer, Wizkid

Nigerian legendary afro beat singer, Wizkid has decided to speak about two of the many professions that his mother and father wanted him to pursue in life while he was growing up.

The award winning singer who made such disclosure during an interview with The Cable, revealed that music is more than a talent to him, adding that it was a way of escape for him because he was stuck with the option of becoming a gangster or joining the music industry.

Wizkid further revealed that;

“My parents wanted me to either become a lawyer or doctor, such conversation with them was very hard when I told them that I wanted to become a musician.

“I had to prove myself to them. They still look at me and think, ‘Ah ah, this boy!’ It took me how many years”.

The music star went ahead to speak about himself, as he revealed that he treats ‘Wizkid’ as a million-dollar company man, adding that he wants people to get to know who he really is as he grows older.

Wizkid on speaking about fatherhood, stated that he is more careful with his words now because he knows that his children are listening to his songs.
