Grammy-nominated afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti has raised an alarm over an allegation that his life is under serious threat.
The controversial 40-year-old singer accused some unnamed persons of wanting to “destroy and kill” him for speaking the “truth.”
Speaking in a recent video shared via his Instagram page, Seun Kuti said he has lost count of court cases and police invitations he has received over the years. He said he is fighting many secret “wars” alone.
In Seun Kuti’s words:
“I will reveal it here today. They want silent me for this country. I can’t tell you how many wars I am fighting alone. I can’t tell you how many cases in court for nothing, how many police invitations left, right and centre for nothing. For just saying the truth, everybody is inviting the police on me.
“Because I am saying the truth, they are trying to destroy and kill me. They are trying to bring me down and destroy my name. It’s not easy. They have been silencing speakers of the truth since 705 BC.”
In a similar news, Mabel Makun, the wife of renowned comedian, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, in January raised an alarm regarding an alleged threat to her life.
In a post on her Instagram page, the interior designer expressed her frustration with the continuous threats, announcing her intention to report the said threat to the police.
Mabel Makun further added that the threat to her life has escalated, and in the event of any harm, there is one person that should be held accountable.
Unfortunately, she did not disclose the identity of the person responsible, emphasizing plans to involve the police on the issue.
