Why I stabbed my ex-girlfriend – Nigerian man tells court in Kano

A man called Idris Abdullahi Sheka has been remanded in Kano State.

A Kano State Sharia Court sitting in Hisbah Board remanded the man in a correctional centre for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Miranatu Musa, on the side of her eye.

Abdullahi, resident of Sheka quarters of the state metropolis, was dragged before the court by the Kano State Police Command over a count charge of creating a serious injury on the complainant’s body.

He was accused of entering a tailoring shop where the complainant is working, stabbing her on her face which led to a serious wound and blood shed close to her eye.

When the charges were read to him, he pleaded guilty.

However, he explained that he did that deliberately as revenge, accusing her of conniving with one of her boyfriends to deceive him.

He said the girl once called him and asked that he should bring her yoghurt, and that after he bought the yoghurt, she dragged him to one place where he was stabbed by some thugs. “That is why I decided to take revenge.”

On her part, the girl rejected the man, adding that she didn’t even know him. She said she first saw him on the day he stabbed her with the knife.

The judge, Sani Tanimu Sani Hausawa, ordered that the man should be remanded in prison and adjourned the matter until August 8.
