A video is making the rounds on social media that shows how a fish firm reportedly records a huge loss.
In the video. the fish farm reportedly records a loss as thousands of fish die due to excessive heat.
Clearly, the heat in Nigeria has been one of the trending conversations online as many have come online to disclose how the excessive heat affected them so much resulting in lack of sleep and no longer bearable.
However, it has been a sad moment for a fish farmer in Delta State, Nigeria as the excessive heat resulted in the death of his thousands of fish.
However mixed reactions have started trailing the video of the fish farm in Delta making the rounds, while some sympathize with the fish farmer, others said those fish were dead because the farmer overstocked, resulting in the shortage of water for the large numbers of fish in the fish pond.
Some also uttered that those fish can’t die like that due to excessive heat, suggesting that someome must have poured deadly chemicals on them.
Others in the comment section advised him to undergoing smoking process so that they won’t be total loss as it can still make money by smoking them.

anitamayigoni: Not only heat caused this, it’s definitely low water level/ low oxygen or hunger. Catfish are strong breeds and can stand heat in a good water temperature.

kayodeoflagos: Heat doesn’t kill fish, probably hunger or low water level (low water level = low oxygen level) poor maintenance kills fish also.
therealdealwithamaka’: That tarpaulin ponds can generate heat. Reduce the amount of fish per pond. Cover the top of ponds with large sized plantain leaves. Try an aeration system to introduce oxygen to pond. I would say continue running in water 😂, but the water from tank might be too hot too. 😂 some people add ice blocks 🥶 to pond. Good luck.
aobokinks: Catfish are hardy in nature…this was probably due to low dissolved oxygen, outbreak of infection or pollution. As a fish scientist, something can still be done to avoid monetary loss🤔.
