Social commentator Oyemykke has joined the online conversation around activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), taking aim at him over his recent comments involving singer Zlatan Ibile and Afrobeats heavyweight Davido. GistLover reported the remarks on November 5, 2026, describing them as a statement making the rounds on social media.
In his remarks, Oyemykke argued that VeryDarkMan had been on Zlatan's case for a while. He said he could make sense of where the Zlatan side of the matter stood, but Davido's place in the whole situation was what left him puzzled. He went further to question why the singer, known to fans as OBO, would allow the activist to speak to him in that manner.
What Oyemykke said
Here are his words in full, as quoted by GistLover: "VeryDarkMan has been on Zlatan's ar$3 for a minute… I understand Zlatan, what I don't understand is Davido. I cannot believe VeryDarkMan is talking to you… this level of see finish pass normal."
The closing line, delivered in Pidgin, roughly means that the familiarity on display has crossed beyond what is normal. In plain terms, Oyemykke appears to be saying VDM has become too comfortable addressing one of the biggest stars in Nigerian music. GistLover characterised his position as describing the situation as an unusual level of disrespect.
The source does not spell out exactly what VeryDarkMan said about Zlatan or Davido that triggered the reaction, and neither VeryDarkMan, Davido nor Zlatan is reported to have responded to Oyemykke's comments.
Social media splits
As expected whenever VDM's name trends, reactions were mixed, according to comments compiled by GistLover. Some users sided with Oyemykke. One, identified as @Victoria uranta/ Digital, wrote: "Like ehhh, this VDM of a guy is very disrespectful. I no blame am na because some people Dey make am think say him Dey relevant".
Others accused Oyemykke of selective outrage, pointing to VDM's past run-ins with Wizkid, Davido's long-time rival in fan debates. A user, @Johnpalmovicspencer, wrote: "You didn't say anything when he was dragging wizkid ooo… e reach Davido own you dey talk say na disrespect…non of you even know why this guy is doing all of these you just keep blaming him and talking down about him and this same guy nor send anybody e nor get shame…"
The same user also responded to a suggestion attributed to Oyemykke that VDM would not dare try such with him, writing: "also brother oyemykke saying if it was him vdm can't try such with you… bros e go do am nothing go happen".
Another commenter, Michael Ajuwape, dismissed Davido's status entirely, insisting in a strongly worded post that VDM was more relevant than all the celebrities involved combined and that his point was valid.
