Popular Nigerian TikToker Peller has walked away from a huge payday, reportedly turning down an offer of $50,000, about ₦70 million, from cryptocurrency trader Habby Forex. The price on the table was not a brand deal or an appearance fee: according to Legit.ng, Habby Forex wanted the right to choose the name of Peller's unborn child.
The offer came live on stream
Legit.ng reported that the proposal was made during a livestream, with Habby Forex telling the content creator he was ready to hand over the large sum in return for naming the baby. The exchange has since been shared as a video on YouTube.
At first, Peller appeared caught off guard. According to the report, he did not seem to fully understand how much money was being offered when it was quoted in dollars. It was only after the figure was converted into naira that the size of the offer seemed to hit him, and he reacted with visible amazement.
Wife first, then a question
Rather than jumping at the money, Peller reportedly said he would have to talk the matter over with his wife, Jarvis, before deciding anything. Jarvis, also a well-known content creator, is a familiar face to his followers.
The conversation then took another turn when Peller asked Habby Forex what name he actually planned to give the child. The report does not say what name, if any, Habby Forex proposed in response.
Family over funds
In the end, despite how tempting ₦70 million sounds in today's economy, Peller made it clear he would not take the deal. According to Legit.ng, the TikTok star stressed that the interests of his family mattered more to him than any cash reward, and that he would not let money decide something as personal as what to call his child.
The move has surprised many of his fans, given how large the sum is. For a creator often in the headlines for his streams and online antics, choosing family over a fat cheque shows a side some followers may not have expected.
Peller in the spotlight
The episode comes as Peller continues to draw attention for other reasons too. Legit.ng separately reported that rapper YCee faced criticism after using Peller as an example while talking about what he called an "olodo uprising", describing the rising popularity of brain-rot content in Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview with Cool FM Lagos, YCee stood by his comments and said he would not apologise for mentioning the TikToker's name, according to the report.
Neither Peller nor Habby Forex has been quoted directly in the report on the naming offer, and details of the exchange rely on Legit.ng's account of the livestream video.
