The naira strengthened slightly against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Friday, November 6, 2026, giving the currency a better finish to the first week of the month, according to a Daily Post Nigeria report.
Official market: N1.95 gain
Figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), as cited by the publication, put the exchange rate at N1,346.79 to the dollar on Friday. On Thursday the rate stood at N1,348.74. That is a day-on-day improvement of N1.95 for the naira, which had been weakening over the preceding days.
Parallel market: no movement
In the parallel market, widely called the black market, there was no change. The dollar sold for N1,410 on Friday, identical to the previous day's rate, according to the report.
Losses still outweigh gains, reserves down
Despite Friday's uptick, the report notes that in recent trading sessions the naira has recorded more declines than improvements in both markets. It also says Nigeria's external reserves have fallen to $55.13 billion, based on data from the apex bank.
The source does not explain what drove Friday's movement or give a outlook for the coming week.
