Liam Rosenior has spoken publicly for the first time about leaving Chelsea. He described his spell at Stamford Bridge as both the best and the hardest experience of his life, NotJustOk reported.
Media mockery in the spotlight
According to the report, Rosenior criticised the media attention he received. He pointed to the ridicule of his touchline instructions to Alejandro Garnacho, the way he dressed and the way he communicated. He also questioned the preconceived ideas of how a Premier League manager should look and behave.
Rosenior said: "Any club would have been happy with such a run, but not Chelsea. You get good results and you’re in the spotlight. Then, there was a kind of snowball effect in the media."
He then singled out the note he handed to Garnacho when Chelsea were down to ten men against PSG, along with his clothes and manner of speaking, as targets of ridicule. In his words, they "made fun of those instructions" and the clothes and speech became a joke. He insisted: "I am not a joke!"
A fuller story promised
The report says Rosenior also hinted that his exit involved issues beyond football. He did not say what those issues were. He said: "You’re the first people I’m talking to about this, and probably the last for a long time, but one day, I’ll tell you what really happened."
The numbers
Rosenior was sacked on April 22, 2026, after 106 days in charge. He took charge of 23 matches in all competitions, with 11 wins, 10 defeats and two draws, according to NotJustOk.
The report does not say where or when he made the remarks. Chelsea have not been quoted in it, and the hint of non-football issues behind his departure remains unexplained.
