Blessing CEO has apologised to Nigerians.
In a tearful video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, the influencer, whose real name is Blessing Okoro, said: “I’m so sorry for speaking about the pain I’ve never felt.” Vanguard and Legit.ng both reported the video. “I’m so broken,” she said, adding that she had learned her lessons “in a very hard way”.
She also spoke to her late son, who died earlier this year while she was in custody. “I miss you so much, and I promise to correct every wrong,” she said, according to Vanguard.
Comparing herself to the prodigal son, she said: “I’m not ashamed of coming back home.”
She was released on bail from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on 24 October, according to QED and The News Chronicle, after months in detention. The EFCC has charged her in three cases: two alleged property frauds involving N36 million and N69.15 million, and an alleged N13 million fraud over donations she received after saying she had stage four breast cancer. She has pleaded not guilty, and the cases are still in court.
Blessing CEO built a large following by giving relationship advice and often weighed in on other people’s marriages and online fights.
This time, the person speaking about her own pain was her.
