Dieko Afolayan, son of Nollywood filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, has turned 21, and he wants everyone to know exactly where he stands at home. The young man went on social media to share clips of a surprise celebration his family put together for his birthday, and he summed up the mood in one line.
According to Kemi Filani News, which published the video on Saturday, November 7, 2026, Dieko captioned the moments: "I am very loved at home. Best birthday yet".
GistLover, reporting the same post earlier that day, rendered his words slightly differently, quoting him as writing: "I'm very loved at home". Both outlets agree on the core message: a son thanking the family that made his 21st memorable.
A birthday post that came after a viral one
The surprise video did not land in a vacuum. Kemi Filani News said that a day before, Dieko had marked his new age by posting what the outlet called "unconventional photos of himself online, which left the internet talking."
The outlet interpreted the family-celebration clip as a response to people who criticised those pictures, describing it as "what seems like a dig at them" and saying Dieko was telling his haters he is loved at home "despite his personality." Dieko himself did not name any critics in the caption quoted by either publication, so the link between the two posts remains the outlet's reading rather than something he spelt out.
GistLover, for its part, framed the post more simply as gratitude, saying Dieko appreciated his family for the love and support they show him and for turning his special day into a memorable one. Fans and well-wishers, the outlet noted, joined in congratulating the younger Afolayan.
Not everyone was clapping
Like most celebrity-child moments in Naija, the comment section was mixed. Among the reactions captured by GistLover, one user, @Bíg14, complained: "Waste of money , people needs those funds for more useful things".
Another, identified as @Aliu Ibrahim, wrote in capital letters: "STOP MAKING STUPID PEOPLE FAMOUS!" Other replies quoted by the blog were openly mocking, underlining just how divided online reactions to Dieko tend to be.
No stranger to the spotlight
Dieko has drawn attention online before. Kemi Filani News recalled that last year he sparked reactions with a video in which he showed off his looks while holding a woman's bag, alongside clips of him displaying his skills working on a car.
His father, the director behind the hit film Anikulapo, has also celebrated him publicly. On Dieko's 17th birthday, according to the same outlet, Kunle Afolayan posted pictures of himself and his son wearing T-shirts branded with the Anikulapo title.
