Funke Akindele has done it again, and this time the celebration is happening in London before Nigerian cinemas even get a look. The UK premiere of her new film, The Four, at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in central London has sold out, according to the movie's distributor, FilmOne Entertainment.
The premiere is fixed for 29 November 2026, and every ticket has now been taken, FilmOne said on Thursday, 5 November. The film is then expected to land in cinemas across Nigeria on 11 December.
FilmOne: 'You made this happen'
In its announcement, FilmOne thanked moviegoers for their support and confirmed that no more tickets were available for the London screening. Punch reported that the message was posted on X, while Legit.ng said the distributor shared the news through its official Instagram account.
"We are officially sold out! You made this happen! The premiere of The Four at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square is officially sold out, and we couldn't be more grateful," the distributor said, as quoted by Punch.
Funke Akindele: 'London, we're coming'
The sell-out follows an earlier post on Akindele's verified Instagram page, where the actress and filmmaker first told fans about the UK outing and framed it as a big moment for Nigerian cinema.
She wrote: "LONDON, WE'RE COMING! History is about to be made. Funke Akindele Network and FilmOne Entertainment are proud to announce the UK premiere of THE FOUR at the iconic ODEON Luxe Leicester Square, London, on 29 November."
According to Punch, the filmmaker also described the London screening as a milestone for Nollywood. Legit.ng similarly reported that she called the event a historic moment, with her production outfit, Funke Akindele Network, partnering FilmOne to take the movie to the famous West End venue.
Why this matters
Leicester Square is one of London's best-known premiere spots, so filling a cinema there is no small feat for a Nollywood title. For Akindele, it adds to a run of success: she is known for producing some of the highest-grossing films in Nigerian box office history, and Punch noted that she has kept pushing her productions to wider international audiences through partnerships and promotional drives.
FilmOne Entertainment, which is handling distribution of The Four, will roll the film out nationwide in Nigeria on 11 December, less than two weeks after the London event. Legit.ng described the sold-out premiere as another major win for the movie before it reaches home screens.
