Cheapest GOtv plan jumps to ₦4,000 as MultiChoice overhauls packages on Thursday

Subscribers on GOtv's cheapest plan will pay more than twice as much from Thursday, 5 November 2026, when MultiChoice Nigeria replaces its DStv and GOtv line-ups with four new packages on each service.

GOtv's Nigerian website lists the new packages as Easy at ₦4,000 a month, Starter at ₦6,000, Select at ₦11,000 and Sports at ₦21,000. GOtv's cheapest package until now, Smallie, has cost ₦1,900 a month since MultiChoice's last price increase on 1 March 2025, BusinessDay reported at the time.

On DStv, the new packages are Starter at ₦6,000 a month, Select at ₦11,000, Sports at ₦21,000 and Premium at ₦44,500, according to an explainer DStv published on its Nigerian website on 27 October. DStv's cheapest package, Padi, has cost ₦4,400 since March 2025, so the entry price rises by ₦1,600. Premium stays at ₦44,500.

There is a gain for football fans. DStv says the Premier League Match of the Week moves from Compact to Starter, and that Starter includes Africa Magic+ and SuperSport KICKOFF. Sports carries every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, while Premium adds Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis, golf and cricket, along with channels such as M-Net and Discovery.

DStv says the new packages are open to new subscribers from 5 November. Some existing customers will be moved automatically in phases and do not need to act unless they want a different package, and they may see their old package name for a while. MultiChoice has not published which old package moves to which new one.

ThisDay reported that MultiChoice Nigeria's chief executive, Kemi Omotosho, told a briefing in Lagos that the changes followed customer feedback, and that subscribers on prepaid multi-month plans will keep their remaining time. DStv advises subscribers to check their package through the MyDStv app, WhatsApp self-service or customer care.
