Arsenal climbed to third in the UEFA Champions League table on Wednesday with a 2-1 away win over Slavia Prague, stretching their unbeaten away run in the competition to 10 matches, a first in the club's history, according to Punch.
Madueke and Gyökeres put Arsenal in control
Citing a post-match report on Arsenal's website, Punch reported that Noni Madueke opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Gyökeres held up a long ball and released the England international behind the Slavia defence. Madueke ran into the box, resisted Oskar Kubiak's challenge and slipped his finish past goalkeeper Nazar Domchak.
The Gunners doubled the lead in the 38th minute. Mikel Merino won the ball high up the pitch and Declan Rice picked out Viktor Gyökeres. The Swede traded passes with Merino at the edge of the area, then curled a shot in from a tight angle.
Arsenal could have been further ahead. Merino had a long-range effort tipped over and later headed narrowly wide from close range. He also missed another chance after Ben White cut the ball back to him.
Slavia push back after the break
The hosts came out with more attacking purpose in the second half and made David Raya work. Kubiak tested the Arsenal keeper from 20 yards. Gabriel had to clear Mojmir Chytil's header off the line after a corner, and Raya then clawed away the rebound. With seven minutes left, Raya stretched to keep out another Kubiak effort from a cross from the right.
Slavia finally scored in the 90th minute. David Jurasek's low cross found Wiktor Nowak, who beat Raya to make it 2-1. Five minutes of stoppage time followed as the Czech side chased an equaliser, but Arsenal held on.
Records and what comes next
The win lifts Arsenal to 10 points from four games. Punch reports they have not lost a European away match since May 2025, and that the result kept intact their unbeaten record in nine earlier trips to the Czech Republic.
Next up, Arsenal host Hull City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, hoping for a fifth straight Premier League win.
