Kano governor Abba Yusuf names Kwankwaso’s son and three others as commissioners

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has nominated Mustapha Kwankwaso, son of Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso as commissioner.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano, was the presidential candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party in the 2023 general election.

The governor has also nominated Adamu Kibiya, a former Commissioner for Land, who was suspended for making derogatory statements on tribunal judges.

The other commissioners-nominee are Usman Aliyu and Abduljabbar Garko.

The names of the four nominees have been forwarded to the Kano State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

Confirming the executive list at plenary on Tuesday, Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Falgore said the screening of the Commissioner nominees will begin early next week.

In another development, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced the dissolution of the State Task Force on Sanitation.

In a Government Press statement signed by Nelson Chukwudi, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Fubara,said the Governor announced the dissolution during a meeting with the State Task Force on Sanitation and refuse contractors in Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

The State Chief Executive said that the task force ceases to exist with immediate effect.

He directed the Special Adviser on Environmental Sanitation, Prince Obi Ohia, to take charge of the agency until the government takes a decision on the leadership of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA).
