‘Agberocracy’ has produced an illegitimate govt – Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour slams APC

The Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), has said called out Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu saying his second-term win is illegitimate.

According to him, it was “Agberocracy” not democracy that produced the governor for his second term re-election.

The Labour Party Governorship candidate in Lagos State was reacting to a post by US Mission on the just concluded 2023 general election.

It would be recalled that the US Mission in Nigeria on Tuesday complained about the “disturbing” acts of violence, voter intimidation and suppression that marred last Saturday’s governorship elections.

The Mission in a statement on its website said “Members of the U.S. diplomatic mission observed the elections in Lagos and elsewhere and witnessed some of these incidents first-hand.

“We call on Nigerian authorities to hold accountable and bring to justice any individuals found to have ordered or carried out efforts to intimidate voters and suppress voting during the election process.

“The United States likewise will consider all available actions, including additional visa restrictions, on individuals believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining the democratic process in Nigeria.”

Reacting to the Mission’s position, GRV tweeted “Agberocracy has Produced an Illegitimate government. Now more than ever, it is time for #ourlagos.”

Rhodes-Vivour, who lost the governorship race to the incumbent Lagos State governor, Sanwo-Olu has vowed to challenge the outcome of the election in court.

While he scored 312,329 votes in the last Saturday’s election, Sanwo-Olu got 762,134 votes and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, aka Jandor got 62,449 votes.
