Nigerian music sensation, Damini Ogulu better known by his stage name, Burna Boy, has revealed that his early career path was in football.

He said that he was a good footballer, but he decided to switch to music because he was better at goalkeeping and was not happy that he “didn’t feel important.”

The Grammy-winning artiste made this known during a chat with British-Nigerian media personality, Julie Adenuga.

Burna noted that he believed the team would fare well without him, so he left as he did not want to spend his life as a goalkeeper.

He said; “I love football. I was good at playing football but the wickedest thing was that I was good at goalkeeping. That’s why I just stopped because [goalkeeping] was dead.

I didn’t feel so important. I just didn’t feel like I was needed like that. I felt like without me the team will still be alright. I don’t want to spend my life like that.”

Similarly, Afropop singer, Peter Okoye also known as Mr P, has revealed that original career path he wanted to follow in his youth was football and not music.

He stated this through his official Twitter page while recounting his days as a footballer in Jos, Plateau state.

Mr P, who said that he still wishes he was playing football, however, noted that he is grateful for becoming a successful musician.

He then gave a philosophical analysis of the reality, saying that when life changes the trajectory of ones life, it is fun to see how the future unfolds.

Peter shared a throwback photo of the team he played for and wrote; “Was suppose to be a Soccer Player or a professional footballer. But today I am grateful to be a professional and successful Musician/Artiste.

When life changes the direction of your future, it might be fun to see where those new horizons take you. But i still wished I was playing football tho😑 God bless us all in all we do”

He also revealed that he and Super Eagles star, Mikel Obi played together in Pepsi Academy.

A fan asked it was true and he said; “Yes we did played together at Pepsi Academy way back in Jos Plateau State
