“We’ve not raised our men right,” Comedian Bovi shares his opinion on how men approach relationships

Bovi Ugboma has said that more needs to be done in raising men so they can better handle relationships.

The comedian was a guest on Televison Continental’s “Your View”.

Speaking to the female hosts, Bovi said: “Why do you think women face the kind of resistance they face? I think it’s because, if you check the source, we’ve not raised our men right.”

He asked the hosts what their reactions would be if their sons informed them they have girlfriends.

The hosts unanimously agreed they would tell their sons that it’s too early.

Bovi said, “So, I think we’re not raising our men to understand what relationships are like.

“So, most of us grew up not knowing how to treat women, not knowing how to listen to women, so we need to adjust these things.

“So, if your son says he has a girlfriend at that age, your reaction even from this space was resistance already. So, you need to listen, you need to teach him how. You need to teach  him how to date.

“He’s 10 years old,” one of the hosts Morayo pointed out.

“Yes, but he knows more than you can ever imagine, especially in today’s world on social media,” Bovi said.

The comedian added that he is not saying children should be encouraged to have girlfriends, but he said they need to be taught from a young age the right way to be in relationships so they are equipped when the time is right.

He added that parents should allow their kids have supervised play dates with other kids.

When the hosts objected, he pointed out that when they were kids, even without their parents’ supervision, they played “Mummy and Daddy” and inappropriate things happened in those cases.

He then said that kids will always play these games without their parents knowing because they are sharper than adults think.

However, he said parents can take charge and point them in the right path by supervising them and teaching them the proper way to act around the opposite s£x.

“So, we need to raise the boy child. We need to adjust how the boy child is raised,” he said, adding that once that aspect is fixed, “it’ll be easier for the women.”
