Suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Jakana Police Station in Konduga Local Government area of Borno State, k!lling a policeman and a woman.
The terrorists, who attacked the station in the early hours of Sunday morning, July 28, 2024, also torched two patrol vehicles belonging to the police and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), along with a motorcycle, and carted away several arms and ammunition.
According to local sources, the terrorists launched the attack at around 1am, engaging security forces in a fierce battle that lasted for nearly three hours.
“They overpowered the security personnel and gained access into the police station and looted arms and ammunition and destroyed two patrol vehicles,” a source told journalists.
“One of the vehicles belongs to the police and the other for the members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).”
Chairman of Konduga Local Government Area Council, Hon. Abbas Ali Abari, confirmed the incident to journalists.
“Yes, I received a distress call that Boko Haram terrorists attacked Jakana Police Station last night. I am speaking with the Divisional Police Officer, and whenever I get the details, I will furnish you,” he said.
Jakana which is situated along the Damaturu-Maiduguri expressway, is approximately 45 kilometers from Maiduguri, the state capital.
