Trump grants religious freedom in US

President Trump took action to further safeguard students’ constitutionally protected right to pray in school.

According to Drake Franklin, Executive Director of Faith Engagement, in a statement made available to odince blog, President Trump is requesting that federal agencies ensure fair and equal treatment to faith groups. Major highlights of the announcement are below.

Students may read their bibles or other scriptures, say grace before meals, and pray and study religious material with fellow students during recess, lunch hour, or other no-instructional time.

Students may organize prayer groups, religious clubs, and ‘See You at the Pole Gatherings’ before school to the same extent that students are permitted to organize other non-curricular student activities groups.

Teachers may take part in religious activities such as prayer, even during their workday at a time when it is permissible to engage in other private conduct such as making a personal phone call.

Schools may excuse students from class to remove a significant burden on their religious exercise, including prayer, where doing so would not impose material burdens on other students.

The Trump administration issued nine proposed rules to protect religious organizations from unfair and unequal treatment by the federal government which eliminated Obama-era requirements that unfairly imposed unique regulatory burdens on religious organizations.

The Office of Management and Budget is also releasing a memo requiring federal agencies to ensure that the grant-making practices of sate recipients of federal funding comply with the First Amendment.

President Trump is committed to ensuring religious organizations can compete on level playing field for funding, without discrimination.

Thanks to President Trump, our voices are heard, and the values of this nation once again prioritize faith in God. For more details, please visit the White House’s website. I encourage you to push this out to your networks and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Once again, this is all the more reason we need to fight to re-elect President Trump in 2020!

God bless,

United States for the first, openly tagging religion to politics, for what?
Considering this as one of the major factors for political delinquency in Nigeria, what are thoughts on this?
