Three men sentenced to death by hanging for Osun bank robbery


Justice Jide Falola of an Osun State High Court have sentenced three men, Nuhu Jimoh, David Ndubisi and Oluwaseun Aderibigbe, to death by hanging after being found guilty of launching coordinated attacks on First Bank, Union Bank and Skye Bank, situated on the same street in Ikirun in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.

Justice Falola in his judgment on Thursday, pronounced the death sentence on them after thirty-two lives, including two police personnel and two bank workers, were lost during the exchange of gunfire between the robbers and the police during the robbery that occurred on February 12, 2016.

The convicts were first arraigned on June 29, 2017, on 10 counts bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, murder and illegal possession of firearms, among others.

Seven members of the robbery gang were said to have been killed by the police, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
