Three killed as gunmen storm Plateau village

Gunmen stormed Maiyanga community in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State on Sunday night, killing three persons.

It was gathered that two other persons sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.

A resident of Maiyanga community, Bulus Sule, who confirmed the attack to Punch in Jos on Monday, said those injured had been evacuated to the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment

Sule said, “It was last night (Sunday) that the gunmen came and attacked the people in Maiyanga community. They shot three persons dead while two persons sustained gunshot injuries. The shooting was just too much. Right now, the community is in pain.”

Another resident of the community, who identified himself as Ilya, condemned the killing of the villagers.

According to him, the attack had been reported to the security agents who, he said, arrived in the community some hours after the gunmen had fled the scene.

He called on the government to beef up security in the community to forestall further attacks on the people.

The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, did not take his calls when contacted on the attack at the time of filling this report.
