Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie has put to rest rumors of a feud with Nigerian music giants Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, referring to them as “amazing artists.”

The controversy began with Sarkodie’s latest track, “Brag,” in which he proudly mentioned his seniority in the music industry, sparking a heated debate.

The controversial track, unveiled on Friday, May 10, caught the attention of Nigerians as Sarkodie unabashedly boasts about his accomplishments and asserts his influence in the African music scene.

In a bold move, he claims credit for setting the stage that others have followed.

The song’s release led to a brief exchange of diss tracks between Dremo, a former signee of Davido, and Lyrical Joe, Sarkodie’s signee.

However, Sarkodie has now addressed the issue, clarifying his intentions in an interview with RODE.

He explained that his reference to Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy was solely to highlight his enduring presence in the industry, not to spark controversy.

Sarkodie emphasized that if he intended to throw shade, his targets would be fellow rappers, not singers.

He stated:

“Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido would never think I want to jab them because if I want to jab somebody, it has to be rappers. They are not rappers.

“I am just talking to rappers about how long I’ve been there and who else is best to use as reverence? Everybody knows Wizkid, Burna Boy, Black Sheriff, Asake and Davido. And it’s true that I was in the industry before they all came in. It’s just references of how long I’ve been there. It’s not throwing jabs at anybody. These are incredible, amazing artists.”
