Mavin Records Chief Executive Officer, Michael Collins Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy, has agreed that Nigerians are not receptive to female musicians.

The music producer made his thoughts known via Twitter while responding to a social media user who expressed concern over how Nigerians treat female artistes.

Don Jazzy described as ‘sad’ the idea that Nigerians don’t appreciate them enough in comparison to their male counterparts despite putting in hard work.

A Twitter user with username @Lahon199x had raised concerns over the issue, saying women who are musicians have more chances of becoming A-list artistes overseas than in Nigeria.

“Nigerians in general are still not receptive to Female music. You will see female dominating or at least equal to the men in other countries’ music industry.

“But In Nigeria?..Our female artistes have more chances of being A-list globally than being A-list in Nigeria,” the tweep wrote.

In response, Don Jazzy quoted his post and wrote; “And it’s so sad. The women put in soooo much work.”
