Sydney Talker received heavy backlash over coronavirus test

Earlier, we reported that Nigerian Instagram comedian Sydney Talker has shared the result of his coronavirus test.

However, the entertainer who tested negative to the novel virus is facing a backlash as he has been accused of playing a prank on the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Recall that a few days ago, Talker called out the NCDC for failing to test him despite showing ‘symptoms for coronavirus.’

In a tweet, the NCDC claimed they reached out but were informed that he was fine and a viral video of his was just a prank.

Sydney refuted this claim saying the NCDC did not reach out to him and he just wants to be tested because his symptoms are getting worse.

Talker upon getting his test results back went mute and it took urging for him to share on Twitter that his test result came out negative.

When he shared, he captioned it:

“My Test Results just got in from Lagos State Ministry of Health and thankfully it is NEGATIVE.

To those who felt this was a PRANK or CLOUT CHASING, I have just one question ” Why would I chase clout at the expense of my life ? ”

To everyone who prayed for me in my weakest moment and for quick recovery,I pray that on the day you are in distress may you also find help and recieve prayers IJN Amen

I love you all & I promise I will be back and better soonest.”

Many are of the opinion that the comedian tricked health workers into testing him and should apologise rather than make excuses.

With the hashtag #SydneyNaFraud being used to criticise him, many have called for his arrest because his test result shows that he was tested before March 27 when he alleged that he was yet to be tested,

Check out reactions to his test result below:

Someone came online to make a mock of doctors and health workers who risk their lives for the country not to collapse. But I should “leave him alone”.

You people must be buffoons

If you think I will let him (or any other idiot like him) rest, you must be joking. #SydneyNaFraud

Someone like Sydney Talker should be taught some lessons. If every Nigerian were to be an idiot or dimwit like him, this crisis will last longer than we can imagine. Everything can’t be jokes. People’s lives are at stake. Resources are scarce. Bloody boffon.#SydneyNaFraud

Please @PoliceNG you people need to arrest Sydney talker or whatever his name is ASAP. he made a fool of hundreds of health officials working tireless to keep people safe. He ridiculed them online and painted them as a bad organisation.#SydneyNaFraud

@DrOlufunmilayo please the attention of the authorities needs to be called to this, I think Sydney talker needs to be used as scape goat. we’ve had enough of their stupid plays and pranks. he should be arrested, those that tried it in Abuja got arrested and #sydneynafraud

You’ll notice on this topic alot of medical workers are pained, you know why? some of them die to protect you dimwits defending Sydney, some haven’t seen their family in months. That same test you fought for Sydney, some of them can’t get it because it’s scarce #SydneyNaFraud

If you try the emergency number you will understand what that guy did. I think we are missing something here and I hope Sydney understand that nobody can help Nigeria.#SydneyNaFraud

At this point, the only thing a sensible person will do is APOLOGISE for the nonsense.

NOT try to still seek public sympathy. The evidence is there.

You pranked the NCDC.
You exploited them to be tested.
You fooled the public.

End this charade. This is shameful.#SydneyNaFraud

They tested you on the 24th but you still came on 27th claiming that NCDC did not respond or get you tested.

Can you see that this boy is very foolish.

If he doesn’t get punished for this plotted jokes, other clowns will follow follow his footsteps and do same.#SydneyNaFraud

Sydney came into limelight in 2016 when he released “The Poor Power Supply” comedy skit. His funny face earned him the nickname ‘Mr. Bean of Nigeria’.

He has been at the center of controversy several times for promoting sexual harassment in his comedy skits.

Known for his funny face, he said he started paying close attention to it when Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham told him the concept is unique.
