A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Hon. Chinedu Eleliam, has been abducted by suspected herdsmen.
Eleliam who is the APC Chairman in Umuarugo Village Umueze ll, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, was trailed to his house by the abductors. They fired several gunshots to scare people away in the area before bundling him into a waiting vehicle to an unknown destination.
A source told The Nation;
“The party chieftain was seized by the gunmen and bundled into their waiting car, adding that they fired gunshots into the air and drove off.”
Police Public Relations Officer, Imo State Command, Henry Okoye confirmed the abduction. He said;
“Yes there is a report that the man was kidnapped on Wednesday but what I can not say is whether he is an APC, PDP or LP member. We are currently investigating the incident, our anti-kidnapping unit has commenced investigation to bring the perpetrators to book.”
This is coming barely 48 hours after Capt. Tony Enoch, a kinsman of Governor Hope Uzodimma and the Presidential Campaign Council Chairman for APC 2023 Presidential election in Oru East LGA was shot dead.
