Nigerian singer and performer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has reacted to the rumors of him being paid a whopping $3 million (N4.5 Billion) to perform at Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani son’s wedding.
It can be recalled that Rema made headlines after he was reported to have received the substantial amount to perform his hit song ‘Calm Down’ at the lavish wedding.
Hailed as the wedding of the year, Asia’s richest man saw Rihanna come out of retirement to perform at his pre-wedding bash for a hefty fee. Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding also featured global stars like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Akon, and Pitbull.
Rema, known for his explicit performance on stage, was also billed to perform at the wedding, and rumors went around that he was paid a N4.5 Billion.
However, in his recent interview with UK platform GRM Daily, the host asked if the rumors were true. The singer responded that he couldn’t confirm or deny the rumors but made known that he was paid handsomely for the gig and as well treated very well by the family and the whole of India at large.
In his words, “Hehehe, that is all I can say to be honest, money wise it was a great achievement, it was beautiful, I love India and India loves me too, It is just feel good to see something that people trolled me for, criticised me for and I am benefiting off of that, imagine if I had stopped, imagine if I had listen to the trolls and I think I feel I have to switch it up and four years later it paid and it paid big.”
