Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis admitted that selling Victor Osimhen will be very emotional for him and the club.
The Nigerian striker has a release clause of around €120-€130m in the new contract he signed last summer but is expected to leave the reigning Serie A champions in the summer as Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly lining up a move for the striker.
“Osimhen has a release clause. That’s a lot of money. Money is Napoli’s latest problem,” De Laurentiis said at the FT’s Football Business Summit:
“We have always made good purchases and will continue to do so in the future.
“The problem is only sentimental, only emotional, because every time a player leaves it’s like saying goodbye to a child, but at the same time you’re happy even when he achieves success elsewhere.”
The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals in 15 league appearances for the Partenopei this season.
