Sade Adu was the first Nigerian to win a Grammy award. Helen Folasade Adu was born in Ibadan on the 16th January, 1959. She is currently valued at around $50 million.
She was a fashion designer and a part time model before joining the band the Pride in the 1980s. In 1985, the band together with Sade released an album titled Promise. The album earned quadruple platinum certification in the U.S., and reached platinum across Europe. It also earned the group the Grammy award for the best new Artist.
Sade had a daughter who is a transgender and also a step son from her most recent relationship.
