Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed that he would consider Josh Maja of Bordeaux in his squad for the international friendly against Ukraine.
Maja was born to Nigerian parents in England and is eligible to play for the Super Eagles. He was invited to the team in 2017 but did not get his chance to play.
The 20 years old, has scored once in three Ligue 1 appearances for Bordeaux this season.
Rohr invited 23 players for the match billed for the Dnipro Arena on September 10 but reveals that some of his players may not be available for the game as some do not have European passports.
“I ate with Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja, since we have the second Nigerian in Bordeaux, and he is available for Nigeria,” Rohr told girondins4ever.com.
“I have spoken with him already about an invitation and he is pretty positive because he did not play for the England U20s. He can make the friendly, which is the case for many others that we also have on our radar.
“For Maja, it would be easier to have him. I have a lot of attackers but it’s not impossible that I invite him.
“We are going to play a game in Ukraine and I was told that it was too late at the embassy for players who do not have a European passport.
“But he (Maja) has because he is also English, so he could eventually join us. It is possible that I will invite him for the Ukraine game.”
Maja began his career with Fulham and also featured for Sunderland before joining Bordeaux last season.
