While all her mates in the Thespian world have plunged into matrimony and dived out, sultry diva, Halima Abubakar has remained undeterred to her single status, despite her growing age. But she is not in any way deterred about her single status, because she herself that she was given a husband when she was young but she rejected the man.
But for how long would she remain single? Kogi state-born Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar came into the showbiz scene over two decades ago, and she has managed to hang on, as she severally gained notoriety for flaunting her body in movies and cover pages of magazines across the nation.
Halima has bagged numerous industry awards and recognitions in her shelves which she can boast of anytime. This superlative role interpreter, Halima Abubakar, is a trouble-free girl from the confluence state of Kogi, and the second child in a family of six; she grew up in the Northern part of the country, Kano State to be precise, and attended the Lagos State Polytechnic, Isolo, where she obtained her Ordinary National Diploma, (OND,) and Kano State University, where she bagged a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Sociology.
Regarding her single status, just as she stated earlier in this story, she was touted of having been given, or better still betrothed to a husband, via the normal Northern traditional rites, which most of her fellow female children at their tender age, went through, but this sultry actress rejected in very unambiguous terms. In one of her interviews, she said, ‘Yes it is true, but when I was young, somebody came for my hand in marriage, but I rejected it, because I was still very young then, and I knew marriage was not the proper thing for me then. In some northern communities it’s compulsory but for me, but I was very stubborn, so I rejected the offer, because I make certain decisions of life, because that’s just my life.’
Most of her contemporaries in the movie industry, like Tonto Dike, Mercy Johnson, Funke Akindele, Mercy Aigbe, and a host of others have in one way or the other tasted marriage, while some are out the wedlock, but this Kogi state-born actress has never experienced marriage, and when asked why she chose to remain single, when all her colleagues in the industry have been to the altar, accidentally or by fatefully too, she said poignantly that she is still searching for the right man.
She explodes, ‘I’m not searching!!! I don’t think I ever said I’m searching; moreover I’m still in my 30s. People should not be in a hurry for me. It’s my life and I’m going to live it the way I please; so they shouldn’t be bothered about my marital status. Marriage will come when it will come and I don’t think anybody should pressurize anybody to get married, the truth is that marriage lasts as long as you want it to last, and I want my marriage to last forever.’
