Daily Post reports that the Nigeria Police Force have reacted to the murder of an officer, identified as Sergeant Ifeanyi, by gunmen in Delta state.
Recall that on Friday, a report surfaced on social media that Ifeanyi was killed by his abductees.
Slain Ifeanyi until his death and was attached to the Eagle Net patrol team of the Ughelli Area Command.
However, details surrounding his murder remained scanty; reports had it that the deceased was abducted on Thursday evening while returning home from official duty.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Mr Bright Edafe, said: “The killed police officer was returning home after closing of work.
“He was intercepted and kidnapped; later, we discovered his dead body. Search for the assailants is on, and we will see how we can get them as soon as possible.”
Two months ago, gunmen killed three Police officers attached to the security team of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta.
In July last year, gunmen killed three Police officers in Okpanam, Oshimili Local Government Area of Delta State.
