The son of Nigerian billionaire Chief Okoya has publicly apologized following a viral video that showed him allegedly abusing the Naira, sparking widespread criticism.
In a statement, he expressed regret for his actions, which he claimed were not intended to cause harm or incite public outrage.
The young Okoya, whose identity has not been fully disclosed, extended his apology to the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the general public.
He acknowledged the backlash the video generated and admitted to being unaware of the gravity of his actions.

“To the Nigerian people, my actions were not meant to cause trouble or harm. My intentions were pure and naive,” he said.
“I sincerely ask for your forgiveness and support in this situation, as I had no intention of raising such alarm or disrespecting the Naira.”
The Nigerian Police Force earlier confirmed that the officer involved in the viral incident had been arrested and detained.
The incident has reignited discussions about the abuse of Nigeria’s currency and the need for public awareness of the consequences.
Meanwhile, Chief Okoya’s son has urged Nigerians to understand his position, emphasizing that his actions were a mistake borne out of ignorance.
