Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has reacted to Manchester United winning the Carabao Cup last weekend.
Erik ten Hag lifted the first trophy of his reign at Old Trafford, thanks to a 2-0 win over Newcastle at Wembley.
United remain in contention to win the FA Cup and the Europa League, while they sit eight points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.
Guardiola has cheekily joked that their city rivals may need to spend more in order to secure more silverware.
“Congratulations to United. Sooner or later it should happen, shouldn’t it? Welcome,” Guardiola said.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona was then asked if United will win more silverware, he replied:
“If they spend a little more money, yes, because they didn’t spend, isn’t it?
“They’re in the position they normally should be.”
