The General Overseer of Guiding Light Assembly, Pastor Wale Adefarasin, and the Prelate and Metropolitan Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, have lost their mother, Hilda Joanne Adefarasin. She died on Sunday.
Wale, the eldest of the clergyman, confirmed the development in a social media post, yesterday.
He wrote: “Mummy! It is with a mixture of both sadness and joy that we celebrate the passing to glory of our mother at the age of 98. She lived a long and fulfilled life. My siblings and I celebrate her life, her achievements, and all that she stood for in our lives and in the lives of so many others that she touched.”
On his part, Paul took to his official Facebook page to mourn his mum, saying she passed away peacefully at the age of 98.
“We thank the Almighty God for the life of our mother, Mrs. Hilda Joanne Adefarasin (nee Petgrave), who passed unto glory peacefully in her home, on the evening of Sunday. As we reflect with gratitude over the illustrious life of service led by Mrs. Hilda Joanne Adefarasin as she parented her children, doted over her husband, and impacted generations and communities, we are reminded of her unwavering love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
“We covet your prayers and ask that you do allow us these initial days to grieve privately. Obsequies, venue for condolence visits and visiting hours will be announced soon.”

The nonagenarian is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Adefarasin’s death comes weeks after Pastor Paul celebrated his 60th birthday.
Adefarasin had earlier lost his father, Justice Joseph Adetunji Adefarasin, a former Chief Judge of Lagos State, in 1989.
While celebrating her 98th birthday back in January, Pastor Adefarasin wrote:
“Today, my siblings, my family and I pause for a moment and join everyone who knows and loves you to celebrate a true heroine on her 98th birthday.
I am certainly most grateful to God for keeping you not only alive to witness another year but for also keeping you well to know the blessings of watching all your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren flourish in their various roles and stations.
Thank you Mummy for being so selfless, an enormous example and a powerful illustration of what it means to be a virtuous woman in the fast-paced nature of modern-day society.
Your love for everyone you come in contact with continues to be worth emulating and today and every day, I celebrate and honour you for who you are and all you do.
It is my prayer that God adds life to your years and years to your life with His divine strength, love, joy and the peace that passes all understanding.
Enjoy your new year knowing that we love you dearly.
Happy birthday, Mummy.”
May mama Hilda Adefarasin’s soul rest in peace
