Super falcons & Barcelona striker, Asisat Oshoala, has kept mum over her new appointment as the captain of Super Falcons, which generated controversy among the country’s football faithful.
Oshoala was named as a replacement for Desire Oparanozie by acting Falcons coach, Christopher Danjuma, on Tuesday.
Oparanozie led the team to the knockout stage of the 2019 Women’s World Cup in June for the first time in two decades.
Oshoala, known to be an active social media user, did not celebrate her new appointment.
Also, checks by our correspondent showed that the player got no congratulatory messages from her national teammates and followers.
Apart from Oshoala, Oparanoize also did not react.
Also, the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation was yet to release an official statement on the matter.
The appointment of Oshoala, who was the Falcons’ assistant captain, attracted concerns from stakeholders.
Some alleged that Oshoala’s appointment was political, following the feud between officials of the NFF and Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby.
Oshoala’s emergence came hours after reports that Dennerbymight quit his post as coach of the women’s national team.
