Oluwo’s Suspension: Why He May not Return as Iwo Monarch

Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has been placed on six months suspension by the council of traditional rulers in Osun State and may not likely return to the throne.

The suspension had long been speculated by many who follow the trend of things with the monarch in the last few days.

Before now, Oba Adewale Akanbi has never been in the favourite record of prominent Obas in Yoruba land and has allegedly been noted for his critical and blunt stance on issues that fall within his domain.

His assault on Oba Dhikirulahi Aderopo, the Agbowu of Ogbaagba land was the final straw that broke the back bone of his carmel.

He was said to have punched the monarch at a peace meeting convened by the Assistant Inspector general of police to resolve the lingering crisis rocking the traditional institutions under his council.

Beyond the recent physical confrontation, Oba Abdulrasheed has stepped on several toes especially among the notable obas within and outside the confine of Osun State.

The last week assault on his colleague has forced the committee members to revisit his past records which was said to have been characterized with public indiscipline befitting of a monarch.

From all indications that are pointing to one direction and with the involvement of Ooni of Ife as chairman of the committee that is looking into the matter, Oba Akanbi may have just been shown the final way out of the throne through the suspension.
