Ahead of the 2020 Edo guber polls, the growing popularity of the frontline aspirant of the All progressives congress, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has glaringly caused panic and terror in the camp of the incumbent Edo governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has since swung into action following the emergence of the index case in Edo state, through his massive distribution of relief materials and groceries to over four thousand (4000) families across Edo state to cushion the effect of the covid-19 global pandemic.
This singular act of magnanimity and utmost generosity demonstrated by Pastor Ize-Iyamu, doubtlessly prompted Edo state government led by Mr Godwin Obaseki to join in the distribution of relief materials across the state.
However, the poorly distributed Edo state government relief packages, received series of condemnation from members of the public, most especially Edo indigenes over the diversion of foodstuffs meant for the vulnerable people by some government officials and as well, excoriated the little packages distributed by the state government.
Following the above development, the social media has been occupied by pro Ize-Iyamu media handlers to promoting the course of a man, whom most of them described as a pace setter. In same vain, called out the state government to improve in its service to Edo people.
Ostensibly, the growing popularity of Pastor Ize-Iyamu, both on ground and the media has continuously caused affright for the governor and his supporters, having in mind that the former’s administration has recorded virtually no project since its inception in Nov 12, 2016.
The recent resignation of the Chief of staff to Edo state government, Mr Taiwo Akerele is another hefty black eye for Obaseki and his handful of supporters. Initially, the governor claimed that he hasn’t received the resignation letter from the erstwhile CoS, Mr Taiwo due to the shock of news. Having known that the news has gone viral in social media, the governor immediately appointed a UK based banker, and son of his close ally Osaze Ethan Uzamere, son of Senator Ehigie Uzamere.
This is no doubt another failed strategy by the governor, in neglecting the senatorial district of the erstwhile Chief of Staff who hails from Edo North.
