The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund on Thursday said it had paid N2.6bn to indemnify employees who suffered certain contingencies in the last eight years.
The Head of Department, Claims, and Compensation of the NSITF, Chris Esedebe, made this known to The Punch after Employees’ Compensation Scheme awareness forum in Ibadan.
Esedebe, who is also the deputy general manager of the NSITF, said the organization was in Ibadan to showcase its services to employers and employees and to get feedback testimonies from them.
He said, “We have 6.6 million employees under the employers that have registered in the NSITF.
“Also, 100, 000 employers have so far registered with us as of July this year.”
“And we also have those who on a monthly basis, receive alerts as compensation for any injury suffered.”
The Regional Manager of the NSITF, Mrs. Tolulope Akinwale, told the participants the benefits of keying into the scheme.
