A US military vehicle was recently hit by an explosive device in Niger, the military announced on Sunday.
According to US Africa Command, The bomb was activated by the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicle on entering the firing range in the vicinity of Ouallam, Niger on June 8, 20019, at a joint training exercise. The US African command stated that there were no casualties and that the service members are been assessed adding that the Nigerian forces secured the scene. It stated;
“There are no reported US casualties, however, as a precaution, US service members are being evaluated”.
it was reported that four Nigerian soldiers were killed in an ambush in the country in October 2017 at the time jihadists overran their convoy in southwest niger, which was one that claimed the largest number of American lives since the “Black Hawk Down” incident in Somalia in 1993.
