Mum surprises her kids with at-home job fair to teach them about earning allowances.

Shaketha Marion McGregor from Georgia says her children asked her for cell phones and allowances.  The single mother of three wants to teach her children to earn money and manage it so created job vacancies in their home for her children to apply for any of the three posts available

McGregor also creates a family credit union A single mother of three Shaketha Marion McGregor has shown her children that they have to earn money to get some luxuries of life like a cell phone, going out to have fun and more.

McGregory makes it a point of seriousness teaching her children about the importance of work and money. The single mother hosted a job fair for household duties, complete with applications and interviews, so her kids could begin to work for their allowances.

In a now viral Facebook post, McGregor wrote: “So, my children continue to ask for a new cell phone, an allowance, and to go places. Yesterday I told them that I’ve heard their requests and that I’ll have a surprise for them today when they get home from school. SURPRISE!!! It’s a whole hiring event”

To avoid giving her three kids, Serinity, six, Takeia, 10, and Jahkeem, 13, allowances or randomly assigning them tasks, Shaketha created the hiring event and invited them to interview for key positions in the house; laundry supervisor, a kitchen manager, and a lead housekeeper. She also operates a credit union and captioned it: “Let mummy start you off with a line of credit to help build your allowance as well as character! Making on-time contributions around the house can pay off big time! Don’t wait! Ask mom how today!” And did her children applied for the job vacancies available? Did they submit their application forms? “I can’t believe my post went viral! Well you guys, the interviews are done and I’m still laughing!!! I’m going to make my son reapply and interview again because he laughed 90% of the time. My 10yr old would sometimes start speaking in an English accent like that would help her. And my 6yr old surprised me the most. She was super professional.

The children response

Just look at the pay they’re asking…. Oh and they want their phone bills to be in addition to the pay. I told them I’ll let them know Thursday who got what job but I see nobody wanted to do the kitchen. I hate dishes too, that’s why it’s on the job board!”
