“Most women who leave their husbands because of cheating ends up with married men” – Actress, Olori Adedeji

The controversial views on marital adultery and domestic abuse expressed by Canadian-based Yoruba film actress Olori Adedeji in a recent interview have sparked heated debates across various social media platforms.

Adedeji questioned the accepted wisdom about the causes of marital dissolution in an open interview with Biola Adebayo, broadcast on the YouTube channel Biola Adebayo Ent. The interview focused on infidelity and physical violence as key factors.

With the statement, “I’ve witnessed a worrying tendency where women who leave their husbands due to cheating often wind up in relationships with married men themselves,” Adedeji started by discussing infidelity. She continued, “It’s a circle that doesn’t solve the core issues.” Neither spouse should let infidelity be a deal-breaker, no matter how painful it is.

“Please don’t misinterpret me. I am not endorsing or advocating infidelity in any manner,”
the actress swiftly clarified her position. A relationship can be devastated by this kind of trust breach. Even after such a betrayal, I think there’s usually more a marriage can recover from than meets the eye.

After that, Adedeji moved on to the topic of domestic abuse, which she thinks is a more legitimate reason to dissolve a marriage. “I have a tough line when it comes to physical abuse,” she stated. In situations of domestic violence, divorce is no longer a choice; it is a need. When abuse reaches its worst form, it can cause irreparable harm and even death.

In a deeply personal reflection, Adedeji wrote: “I consider myself a powerful woman – the sort who wouldn’t allow anyone take my boyfriend.” This statement reflects her personal experiences and characteristics. However, I am well aware that not every woman possesses the same degree of self-assurance or tenacity. Each person deals with relationship problems in their own unique way, and it’s important that we recognise and honour these differences.
