French Ligue 1 side Lille have hailed striker Victor Osimhen for his performance in the Super Eagles’ friendly against Ukraine at the Dnipro Arena.
Osimhen scored his first senior national team goal for Nigeria, converting a 34th-minute penalty after Samuel Kalu was fouled by Eduard Sobol inside the box.
Lille, who said Osimhen played nicely, described his penalty as a “perfect kick.”
“A first senior international goal for Osimhen! A perfect penalty kick in Super Eagles 2-2 draw against Ukraine: nicely done,” the club tweeted.
Osimhen joined Lille from Sporting Charleroi in the Belgian league.
Osimhen was top scorer with a record 10 goals as Nigeria claimed a fifth U-17 World Cup title in Chile in 2015.
His exploits saw him crowned the 2015 Confederation of African Football Youth Player of the Year.
