As popular American streamer IShowSpeed continues his “Speed Does Africa” tour, Nollywood star Kunle Remi has sparked a massive conversation online. After observing the creator’s journey through several African nations, Remi has voiced his disappointment, ranking Nigeria at the bottom of the list.
Speed, who made headlines in Lagos for hitting the 50 million subscriber milestone, has since moved on to countries like Ghana and Namibia. However, according to Remi, the Nigeria leg of the tour didn’t show the country in its best light.
In a candid post shared on his Instagram story, the actor suggested that the visit highlighted a lack of cultural depth in the way the city was presented. He lamented:
“After watching IShowSpeed’s journey so far, Nigeria is the worst on my own list. We just really exposed Lagos. It feels like there was nothing substantial beneath the surface.”
Remi’s critique was sharp, as he pointed out that the global broadcast seemed to only showcase a narrow side of the city. He stated that the visit made it appear as though Lagos only had “fake drinks, clubs, and ‘begging’ skills” to offer.
His comments have resonated with many Nigerians who feel that while the energy was high, the opportunity to showcase the nation’s rich heritage and professional hospitality was missed in favor of chaotic “clout-chasing.”
