Some journalists in Bayelsa State were on Monday banished from covering the races of the State Football Association (FA) held in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The decision was held at Latik Hotel, INEC Road.
A few journalists who attempted to cover the occasion were denied access into the setting by some security faculty who professed to follow up on directions of the FA authorities leading the decision.
The Chairman of the state section of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Datonye Alambo, communicated dismay over the advancement.
“It is really awful that columnists can’t be permitted to cover an occasion like this in Bayelsa; what is a mystery about FA race?
“We, the SWAN individuals, have made plans to give a power outage from now on to every one of FA’s exercises and projects in the state, including the progressing state association,” Mr. Alambo said.
Responding to the advancement, the Secretary of the Bayelsa FA, Diseye Nwankwe, clarified that the training in the past was for writers to cover the Congress and not the decisions.
“Indeed, they permitted just TVC. The authorities said that they need the race video recorded by at any rate a medium, consequently the nearness of the TVC team.
“I need to apologize to the writers of the game and I guarantee that the state FA will meet with the gathering (authorities leading the decision) to iron out the distinctions,” Mr. Nwankwe said.
