She admits that it has not been easy being abroad during a pandemic, with many courses moved online and socialising restricted -- many other overseas students have been put off entirely. But, like others in Britain, Coventry University in central England is confident it will weather the storm of Covid-19 and maintain its foreign students, who are a crucial source of income. A Nigerian man who sold his properties to relocate to Canada with his family is reportedly faced with abject poverty instead of a greener pasture.

A Canadian sound engineer, Eric St-Pierre took to the X platform to pen the situation of a Nigerian colleague who fell for the idea of a greener pasture.

According to Eric, this colleague of his currently lives in a horrible condition with his wife and children after japa to his country.

He added that the Nigerian colleague often starved to save extra food for his children due to his low income, which has forced his wife also to join the labour market instead of catering for their children.

In a lengthy post, he wrote;

“The Canadian economy is getting so bad that even newly landed immigrants are regretting coming here. I work with a Nigerian guy who brought his entire family here for a better life. In this case they found that the grass wasn’t greener on the otherside.

“Suddenly he realized that his wage was only enough to cover his rent. Back home his income was enough to care of the entire family. He spent his first months here starving so his wife and kids could eat.

“Now his wife needs to work out of necessity instead of focusing on raising their kids. Now distraught both him and his wife are regretting coming here. Worst yet they can’t afford to return, they spent their life savings to live in Canada.

“Stories like these are all too common thanks to the Liberals morally bankrupt policies. Our economy is literally a ponzi scheme preying on newcomers to artificially inflate real estate and rent prices.”
