Governor Obaseki Should Act Like A True Democrat Not An Autocrat
One of Seid Oshiomhole’s media aide, Comr Abdulsallam Muhammad expresses concern over Edo’s political brouhaha which has affected the continuity of good governance in the State.
It is no longer news that Edo state has over the past few months experienced political anomaly.
At first, it was the issue of ILLEGAL INAUGURATION done by the state governor and his deputy, whereby nine (9) out of the 24 members-elect were inaugurated under duress and at nocturnal hours, which is clearly strange to the law and completely unconstitutional. However, this irregularity that is aimed at sabotaging the state legislature has been challenged by other members-elect.
Secondly is the partial reshuffling of cabinet, whereby nine (9) Edo Commissioners perceived to be loyal to the APC National Chairman were relieved of positions by the state governor and his deputy, whereas the APC National Chairman, Comr Adams Oshiomhole openly admitted on Channels TV that he only nominated one of all the Edo commissioners.
Thirdly, is the illegal suspension of two democratically elected LGA Chairmen from Etsako West and East and the Vice-chairman of Akoko Edo Local government by the state governor.
As if the above weren’t enough, he sacked over 220 (SAs) special advisers, and (SSAs) senior special advisers respectively.
His aims are (1) To enable him (Gov Obaseki) to appoint only his loyalist which won’t be up to the number of those sacked. (2) To enable him to save the cost of others to fund his miragelike, or if you like fictional re-election bid.
What Edo people demands, for now, is governance, not politics, as it is not yet time for the election. 2020 is next year. The governor has however paid deaf ears to the yearnings and demands of his people, as he’s seen boasting on various media platforms of an automatic mandate/ticket. Obaseki should be informed that under democracy, reelection ticket is earned not automatic.
Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki should always act like a true democrat not been autocratic in all affairs of governance.
History cannot forget what Former governor Oshiomhole has done for Edo in the past few months as the ruling party’s National Chairman. Today and for the first time, Edo has two Ministers and the Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Comr Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole MNI has demonstrated the height in qualities of a true democrat and a Major political Leader. By the virtue of the aforesaid, OSHIOMHOLE remains Edo Leader.
